My folks bought a brand new yellow VW van in 1976 when I was just one year old. That van still sits in my dad's garage to this day (not running, but in good shape and could be revived quite easily if anyone is interested with a solid offer). I grew up in that thing, and drove the entire length of California's coast in it several times over. I tend to work it into paintings when opportunity arises and generally have a soft spot for those unreliable bubble road-boats in spite of the grief they have caused by refusing to start in the middle of nowhere on a regular basis throughout my childhood.
