Current Archive: California's East Coast
There is a lake in California in the Sierra Nevada mountains located at over 6000 feet above sea level. The native Washoe people simply called it “the lake”, or “dá’aw” which evolved to the word we know today for Lake “Tahoe”. All well and good, but why is this high mountain lake included in the California Coast? Because Tahoe is bigger than the Sea of Galilee and given the right winds, it even produces rideable waves on occasion. Across the lake lies a whole other country called “Nevada”, so yes, by my calculations it is indeed a part of the coast… Welcome to the East Coast of California.
