HEAVY CONVERSATION
I rolled up to scour the cliff edges for some suitable vista on a gray morning here as the clouds began to burn away. While picking my way along the eroded edges of disaster, I encountered a young college kid staring over a steep edge. At first I thought he was just checking the surf, but as we got talking he began to tell me of people he knew, who had died on the beach below, after falling off this cliff. And how life didn’t seem to have a very strong grip on him. I did my best to talk him through some things but it was heavy. I told him about hard times I’d gone through, how they were only temporary. I prayed for him. I didn’t know what else I could do. He seemed ok afterwards, but to this day I wonder. Life is hard.
