Not to be confused with collaborations with con-artists, these collaborations were straight-forward and nobody was conned into anything. It’s just that the folks who joined in the painting of these paintings were simply art-lovers of all backgrounds and did not necessarily consider themselves “artists”. There is a certain challenge and joy in responding to their unplanned initial strokes and building paintings around them while preserving something of their original essence. The finished paintings have an element of the “other” in them that I could never manufacture in my studio alone. Plus there’s usually beer, so that is good too.
