Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Size: 24″ x 36″
Year: 2002

From the way-back machine all the way back to 2002. This won an award or mention or something in a Juried Exhibition at the Morris Graves Museum in Eureka, CA back when it was painted. Some friends owned it all these years and moved around the country ten times before moving back to Humboldt recently and allowing me to borrow it for some cleanup and to take some good photographs.

“Poppies and Pointbreaks”

Medium: Acrylic on 7′ 2″ Single-Fin shaped by Jeff”Doc” Lausch
Size: 16″ x 40″
Year: 2018

This homage to the beauty of California’s coast was painted under the glass on a hand-shaped surfboard by California shaper Jeff Doc Lausch. It’s a fully functional surfboard. I rode it one time and one time only at Rights and Lefts on the Hollister Ranch. How many artists produce rare original studio paintings then paddle them out into the ocean and actually ride waves, let alone at one of California’s classiest and hard to access waves?  There may be others, but good luck finding them.  For a closer look at this board this artwork was painted on, check it out here.

“Scripps and Salsa”

Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Size: 36″ x 24″
Year: 2015

Notes: Painted for the 2015 Legends of Surfing Invitational & Luau held at the Scripps Pier in La Jolla, CA. The event raises funds each year for UCSD’s Moore’s Cancer Center. This piece was the official event artwork for the year and raised $14,000 in the live auction. Holy moly.
